Local communities and charity causes are very close to our heart. As one of the leading construction companies in Birmingham, we feel it important to give back to the area and prioritise equality, diversity, and sustainability wherever possible. We’re proud of the steps we take to help charity causes through regular donations to food banks, disaster relief organisations, and homeless shelters, alongside volunteering initiatives and equal hiring practices.

ALL VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES ON PROJECT
The A2 Bean and Ebbsfleet Junction Improvements Scheme team know the value of working with our supply chain partners to support local community projects. Zone Contractors have been involved with all of our volunteering activities, including delivering activity packs to those who are part of the charity ‘We Are Beams’ and volunteering to support a local homeless shelter based in Gravesend.

Food Banks
We contribute to food banks multiple times annually, especially around Christmas when many families find it hard to afford basic meals. Our donations helping feed struggling families in the West Midlands.
Tackling Homelessness
We are pleased to have sponsored a bed at a homeless shelter in the West Midlands for a whole year. According to Shelter, one in every 80 individuals in Birmingham is homeless, and shelters like Tabor House provide more than just a temporary place to sleep. Their team supports homeless people by helping them identify their strengths, find employment, and transition into independent living.
Donations to Relief Charities
In response to war or natural disasters, we frequently contribute essential PPE to support search and rescue operations. Recently, we have provided these donations to various charities aiding the war in Ukraine and the support in the aftermath of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
Volunteering Work
Volunteering is fundamental to our employee experience. We collaborate with organisations throughout the UK, including homeless shelters, care homes, and charities assisting individuals with disabilities, to bolster their efforts. We also leverage our skills as a labour agency and construction company in Birmingham to enhance the facilities of various charities!

We are proud to sponsor sports teams including the LGBTQ+ Birmingham Blaze FC and Erin Go Bragh ladies GAA Team, who actively promote inclusion and have proudly participated in Birmingham Pride with construction industry partners.
Upskilling our Workforce
We continuously offer opportunities for our workforce to advance their careers through routine on-site training and support for qualifications. Our team frequently undertakes training in key health and safety measures, equipment handling, and assistance with CPCS and NVQ certifications.

Recruitment Schemes
Zone Contractors implement various specialised recruitment programs designed to assist disadvantaged and minority individuals in securing their ideal roles within the construction sector. Collaborating with numerous charities, we aid homeless individuals and ex-military personnel in entering the industry. Furthermore, we visit schools and colleges to inspire young people to consider careers in construction. We frequently attend local recruitment events near our major projects to ensure the communities impacted by our work benefit.
