Balfour Beatty was responsible for the tunnelling and marine works for the Hinkley Point C project. The Hinkley Point C Tunnelling and Marine Works is regarded as one of the most challenging marine engineering projects ever undertaken.

This phase involved building essential infrastructure to support the power station’s construction and operation. The scope included advanced tunnelling work for necessary services and marine activities along the coast to aid construction.

Balfour Beatty employed state-of-the-art tunnelling methods to dig tunnels for pipes and cables critical to the facility’s functioning. At the same time, the marine works included constructing marine structures, dredging, and other tasks to facilitate the transportation of materials and equipment to the site.

Adhering to stringent safety and environmental standards was crucial, with measures implemented to protect marine life, ensure site safety, and minimize environmental impact.
